The Great Unwaste: Australia’s Food Waste Revolution
From proper food storage to flexible meal planning, every small action counts. Join ‘The Great Unwaste’ movement today and be part of the solution. The Great Unwaste is a nationwide behaviour change campaign designed to inspire and empower all Australians to reduce food waste in their homes.
The End Food Waste Australia Cooperative Research Centre led Australia’s most comprehensive research in consumer and household waste behaviours as part of our ENGAGE Program. This significant body of research, the first-of-its-kind in Australia, revealed that the average household wastes more than twice as much food each week than they think – 4.22kgs compared to the perceived 2.03kgs. With Australian households currently throwing out 2.5 million tonnes of food each year, the equivalent of approximately 7.7 million edible meals every single day, the findings also revealed that nearly half of Australians (46%) agree they could do more to reduce their household waste, while 45% are seeking better information and support to tackle the problem.
Join The Great Unwaste to learn more about how you can implement these changes in your household, and start your journey towards a waste-free future!
